  1. My favorite project is project 4 that I redesigned a news blog website. I really enjoy the process of designing even though I didn’t really do a great job. But I feel I’m getting better each time, and this is also the reason why I prefer project 4 than project 2. Every time a website was designed, I feel satisfied.
  2. My least favorite part is coding our wireframes into a really website. I mean I like coding and building my own website. But what makes me unhappy is that I had some nice ideas in my wireframes, but I couldn’t make them happen with my current abilities.  This urges me, I need to learn more.
  3. My coding skills improved a lot this semester. In addition to basic codes, I also learned many special ones like simple animations, photos slideshows, etc. I’ve also made some progress in layouts.
  4. I feel I’m better at designing concise style websites. Because I’m weak at choosing color and fonts. If I can improve these, my web design capability will be greatly improved.

My favorite part of the class has been the breakdown of each project. The first step was coming up with a concept using a mood board. Next was the wire frame, followed by the design mock up and ending with the code. This series of steps has helped with my workflow and to more easily begin a project.

My least favorite part of the class has been the blogs.

The best technical knowledge I have learned was about media queries. I had never used them before and it became helpful for me on another project that I’m working on. I also think that the amount of resources(W3school links, the typeface guide)you have given us have been valuable.

I believe that my strengths are in the design of a project. I do enjoy coding but I feel more comfortable in Adobe.

  1. My favorite part of class was the coding. I really like seeing what I can create using code. I also liked the new stuff we learned when it comes to code this semester.
  2. I was not a huge fan of having to design the sites in photoshop before we create it using code. I guess it would be necessary when it comes to creating for a client as opposed to creating for yourself.
  3. I learned how to do javascript and how to code a website to be different on mobile.
  4. I am not so good at taking code from the internet. It’s supposed to be easy, but for some reason I always have a hard time using in my own projects.

Overall, I really liked the class. My favorite part was designing project #4. For that project, I chose to design an e-commerce site and I really enjoyed it because it was a new challenge. A lot of the projects have been designing have been portfolio sites which is a great skill to have, but I feel that it is important to try designing other types of sites as well because they require you to think differently about layout and functionality.

My least favorite part of the class was the lack of critique days. I wish that we could have done more because they help both the presenter and the critics improve their designs. In addition, I think that it would have been nice to see how everyone’s site came out for project #1. I was very interested to see if what I designed and coded was what my partner was looking for and whether they were able to design something that I had wanted. Unfortunately, we never got to see our partner’s work.

I learned how to make a responsive website that is compatible for both mobile and desktop sizes. In this day and age, I think that that is very important because everyone has different screen sizes. I also learned how different it is to work with a client. For project #1 we had to design a site for someone else and keep in mind their wants which was a lot different than designing something for myself.

I learned that as a designer and front end developer, I like to make a “reference sheet” which is similar to a moodboard. Basically, I would put the names of all of the fonts, what was which font, the size, the hex #’s for the colors, the logo, etc. I could never remember the specifics for each site I designed so I began making a document with all of that information so I wouldn’t have to look it up in Photoshop. It was extremely helpful. Also, I learned that it is really nice to get started early on the projects. I was ahead of the deadline by a lot a couple times and it was really nice to finish early and then get feedback before the deadline for the original project. Not procrastinating and having the specifics well organized was extremely helpful.

  1. My favorite part of the class was the project critiques. I found it interesting to hear other students input of my designs, as well as see theirs. It was also a good platform to see other’s style choices and share design ideas. It was also refreshing to do an activity that didn’t involve coding that also engaged the entire class.
  2. My least favorite part of the class was the coding quizzes. I understand the practical nature of them, but I always found them super nerve wracking. This is probably due to the time limit, but again I do understand the value that a quiz like that holds.
  3. Along with learning more css and html code, I would say I learned more about javascript. It is something I am now going to pursue on my downtime. I think it is really cool that it is a coding language that makes websites more interactive and responsive than just html and css.
  4. I learned that I am decent at creating layouts and creating mood boards. My code is alright, but it could really benefit from a bit more organization and labeling.

  1. My favorite project was project 4 because even if I don’t end up coding it well in project 5, it was fun to design a portfolio site for myself and I’m now used to creating wireframes with designs. I think all the assignments were good and I did not have a favorite, I just enjoyed the fact that a lot of the assignments worked well into projects so I could copy and paste assignments right into my projects to save time on coding. My favorite part of class may have oddly enough been the course load. The amount of work kept me on my toes and had me thinking about design or code all the time and I think that’s important for a new web designer.
  2. My least favorite project was doing the code for project 2 although most of that was my fault. When designing the page, I designed things such as a gallery that didn’t really exist anywhere on the web and that led me to waste a lot of time researching for a code for it and led to a lot of frustration. In the end, I had to make a gallery that looked the way I wanted it but didn’t properly work as I hoped for. I didn’t really have a least favorite assignment, I felt they were all appropriate. I also didn’t really have a bad part of the class. The class was always run very efficiently and always had a set schedule.
  3. I learned a lot of new coding and ways to find code. In Basic Web I struggled a lot through the class to understand how to code. Now, at the end of Advanced Web I am for the most part comfortable with coding or at least know what I am looking at.
  4. I learned that I’m a better coder than I used to be, however as a designer and developer I would much rather create the look, feel, design and wireframe of a site and then send it to a developer to create. I am a very visual person and sometimes looking at code can become very dull. I am not as passionate about coding as I am designing.

Throughout this class the part that I have enjoyed the most is the building of the site. I like the new code that I have learned and I also like the software skills I have learned in the adobe suite.

The parts that I didn’t enjoy in this class, sadly, were the blogs. I mean they were not bad or hard to do. I actually thought that the helped me with design and developing concepts. But… I would easily forget about them. Don’t get rid of them…

I feel I have learned so much in this class…things from coding to using Photoshop and other programs. I have began to utilize other sources for cod and have become way better at reading code blocks. All around I have learn skills through this class.

I learned that for me to code a static but cool site I really should think about how it will work before I start to code. If not I feel it is harder to incorporate more complex elements. Also, I need to become better with manipulating existing code.

  1. My favorite parts of the class were the assignments because they were not very time consuming and were pretty easy to complete. Also, the code in the assignments almost always helped me when it came down to completing the projects. They were kind of a fun way to experiment and prepare for bigger projects. It was good practice. I also liked the quizzes. It was kind of fun finding code errors and fixing them.
  2. My least favorite part of the class was creating wireframes/using Photoshop. I find Photoshop a little difficult to use.  Also, I am not the best at designing things. I prefer coding over designing, but of course, if you are creating your own site, you kind of have to do both.
  3. I learned how to understand JavaScript better and use it in my code. At first, I was a little scared to use it because it looked confusing and difficult, but when I sat down and actually tried putting it in my code, I found out that it is not that scary after all. It has helped me put sliders and other interesting functions in my code. There are so many things you can do with JavaScript.
  4. I learned that I am better at coding websites than designing them.  I would say designing is my weakness. I never know what to put in my designs and/or how to create an effective design with appropriate fonts and functions. I would say my strength is coding.

  1. My favorite project in class was probably project three. I tried to make the website as different as possible from the website I made last semester. With this in mind, my code for this website was very different. While striving to create a website that’s unique I learned code I never thought I would need. I was also impressed with how much code I actually remembered off the top of my head. I rarely needed to google anything or use w3 schools. I also enjoyed making the design for our most recent project. Partially because I got to include images I’ve been making for my portfolio.
  2. My least favorite part of the class was the blogs. Mostly because I always forgot to do them.
  3. I didn’t learn that many new concepts, however I really improved on my coding abilities. I think the website I coded this semester was a huge improvement over last semesters final project. I understand basic concepts of coding much more now then I did a few months ago. I can set up a page so much more easily now than before, and so much of the code is committed to memory. Last semester I always had to work with a tab open on w3 schools.
  4. Over this the course of this semester I’ve learned that I need to pay more attention to the websites I visit. I need to better absorb the websites I visit and pay attention to the layout. I find the websites I design are too simplistic in nature. I need to focus on keeping my designs streamlined while also looking modern and professional.

  1. My favorite project we had was project 3 where we were could create a website for a person.  I enjoyed this because it gave us the opportunity to be able to work with a “client.”
  2. I struggle with Photoshop.  The projects and where we had to use photoshop i did not enjoy because i do not enjoy photoshop.
  3. I learned good technical knowledge about front end development.  this is useful for me because i will be working in a tech field and i should know how to create a front end GUI for websites.
  4. I learned that i struggle with photoshop.  It takes me a very long time to work through photoshop and get all the layers to fit together.
